Ghana’s Isaac Twum, on Thursday, signed a contract with Norwegian Eliteserien side Mjøndalen IF, one that will last until the 2022 season.

The central midfielder thus ends a spell with topflight rivals IK Start with three months left on the deal with the Kristiansand-based club.

IK Start have admitted they couldn’t agree an extension with Twum because the 21-year-Ola’s expectations was far beyond their financial capabilities, forcing the club to allow him join the ‘browns.’

“We are very happy to bring in an Isaac in front of an important season sprint. There are 12 matches left and we will do our utmost to have an Elite Series game again in 2021 at Consto Arena.

“Isaac brings us quality in central midfield and is a player we think can be both an important player for Mjøndalen, but also good enough for major leagues.

“He is still young and hungry and fits in well with both our short and long perspective,” Mjøndalen Sports Manager, André Nevstad told the club’s website .

Isaac Twum  arrived on Norway with IK Start in 2018 after impressing in the 2017 Wafu Cup of Nations. Ghana won the African tournament with Twum named the best player. Since then, Twum has represented the senior national team of Ghana on one occasion.

In this year’s Elite Serien, Twum has 10 games and one goal for IK Start. The 22-year-old won the match in the 1-0 victory for Start over Aalesund.

Isaac Twum gets his first training session with Mjøndalen on Thursday and is expected to be ready for games in the brown shirt as early as Sunday when Viking visits Consto Arena.

Mjøndalen IF are second from bottom on the 16-team Norwegian Eliteserien after 18 matches.
