Match Report: Asante Kotoko thrash Mighty Jets in their third pre-season friendly game

Asante Kotoko continued their pre-season friendly game encounters with the third one against Mighty Jets played at the Akwapem Mampong Park on Friday afternoon.
Asante Kotoko defeated Division One League side Mighty Jets 3-0 in a friendly encounter.
Two first half goals by Adom Frimpong and Augustine Okrah and one in the second half by Emmanuel Gyamfi handed the Reds the victory ahead of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League.

Mudasiru Salifu made his first start in the pre-season games played so far by the Porcupine Warriors.
Felix Annan also returned to the posts after missing the Krystal Palace game. He was shielded at the back by Christopher better, Imoro Ibrahim, Abdul Ganiyu and Habib Mohammad in Maxwell Konadu’s 4-3-3 system.
Kotoko had an opportunity to open the scoring in the 7th minute but was fluffed by Osman Ibrahim.
Midfielder Kwame Adom Frimpong scored his second consecutive goal in Kotoko’s friendly games as he netted the opener in the 13th minute. He received a pass halfway Mighty Jets’ centre-half and followed up with his first touch with a superb long-range shot into the right bottom corner.

Augustine Okrah made it 2-0 for Kotoko in the 28th minute through a penalty. Striker Evans Adomako was brought down inside the penalty area as he dribbled past his marker and the referee has had a full view of the action did not hesitate to point at the spot.
Okrah elected himself for the kick and sent a powerful shot into the right bottom corner.
Nettey picked up an injury on the 45th minute and was replaced by Samuel Frimpong.
However, there was nothing more to see as the referee blew his whistle for the end of the first half.
After recess coach Maxwell Konadu made changes in the line-up. Wahab, Mubarik Imoro, Samuel Frimpong Sarkodie, Keyekeh, Gyamfi Asiamah, Keita, Opoku Mensah all were introduced.
William Opoku Mensah who came on to replace Adomako missed a glorious chance in the 50th minute as his curled shot from inside the penalty box went off the crossbar to the dismay of the supporters around.
However, two minutes later, Naby Keita was fouled at the edge of the box, and he quickly released Emmanuel Gyamfi – who curled the ball into the bottom right corner beyond the opponent’s goalkeeper, it’s 3-0.
Kotoko made several attempts to increase the tally but could not score.
The Ghanaian giants defeated division two side Odweanoma FC 3-0 in their first pre-season exercise before drawing 2&2 with Akosombo-based Krystal Palace.
