Kotoko’s Richmond Lamptey is better than most current Black Stars players – Olympics coach Kobi-Mensah

Bismark Kobi-Mensah, the assistant coach of the Black Galaxies, believes that Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey deserves to be selected for the current Black Stars set-up.
For Ghana’s upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers against Angola, none of the local players have been included in Chris Hughton’s 25-man squad.
The decision to exclude local players has been met with criticism from several football enthusiasts in the country.
Nevertheless, the head trainer of Great Olympics argues that some local players have the necessary talent and skills to make it to the current team.
He identifies Richmond Lamptey of Asante Kotoko as someone who should be selected for the team due to his exceptional brilliance and technical ability to read the game.
Kobi-Mensah stated to Kumasi-based Pure FM, “I can tell you that most of the local players are better than some of the foreign players and there are a lot of them. Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, for me is one of the best midfielders in the country because he covers a lot of distance and he is technically good.”
Ghana’s first match against Angola will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23, followed by the return leg in Luanda four days later.
