2 min read

The Porcupine Warriors failed to record their first preseason win over Liwa FC after sharing spoils with the third-tier club on Sunday evening.

Asante Kotoko were held to 1-1 stalemate by United Arab Emirates lower-tier side Liwa FC in a preseason friendly at the Shababal Ahli Stadium in Dubai.

Coach Prosper Narteh made changes in his starting line up that were defeated by Al Hilal United as Maxwell Agyemang, Stephen Amankona, Mudasiru Salifu and Richmond Lamptey were handed starting berth against Liwa FC

The Ghanaian giants commenced the fixture on a good note as they staged an intense pressure on the hosts to open the score before recess.

Trio Stephen Amankona, Dickson Afoakwa and Joseph Amoako kept tormenting the back line of Liwa FC which one of their fearsome attacks earned them the opener on the stroke of halftime.

Newly-signed forward Stephen Amankona brilliantly gave Asante Kotoko the lead on the 41st minute of the game.

In the second half, Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum introduced Richard Boadu, Sheriff Mohammed, Clinton Opoku and Andrews Appau as they were in search for more goals.

The Porcupine Warriors looked calm upfront as Joseph Amoako and Sheriff Mohammed came close to double the lead but they misfired their efforts.

Liwa FC gained possession in the last ten minutes of the game as they outplayed Asante Kotoko to level the score in the dying embers of the game.

Young forward Mohamud Sheriff netted the leveller for Liwa FC to end the game in a one-all draw at the Shababal Ahli Stadium in Dubai.
