Hearts of Oak star Sulley Muntari reacts to calls for his inclusion in Black Stars squad for Nigeria World Cup playoff

Hearts of Oak midfielder Sulley Muntari has responded to calls for his inclusion in Ghana’s squad for the World Cup playoff against rivals Nigeria.
The Black Stars will lock horns with the Super Eagles of Nigeria later this month for a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be played in Qatar later this year.
Ahead of the playoff, there have been calls for Sulley Muntari who last played for the Black Stars in June 2014 at the World Cup in Brazil to be included in the team.
Responding to the calls, Sulley Muntari stated that he’s pleased but his focus is now on Hearts of Oak.
“I’m pleased but then the most important thing is Hearts of Oak now. I came in and I got the chance to play for Hearts of Oak. It’s a big team here. The guys are amazing, the coach and the staff. So I’m very pleased to be here and also the fans are making right. I’m home, so it’s just joy to be here,” Sulley Muntari said after Hearts of Oak’s 2-1 victory against WAFA.
When asked if he will ever don the Black Stars jersey, the 37-year old who scored his first goal for Hearts of Oak in the win against WAFA earlier today said: “Time will tell, we will see.”
Meanwhile, the technical team of the Black Stars is expected to announce the squad for the playoff against Nigeria this week.
The playoff games are scheduled for Friday, March 25 at the Cape Coast stadium and Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
