Hearts of Oak’s deputy coach, David Ocloo, has been praising Yaw Amankwa Baafi’s versatility after successfully deploying him as a right-back in recent matches against Asante Kotoko and Gold Stars.
Despite being a surprise move, Baafi has impressed with his direct running and defensive skills, earning him the Man of the Match award in the President’s Cup game against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.
Ocloo’s decision to play the 19-year-old in an unfamiliar defensive role has proven to be a tactical masterstroke, and he has explained that Baafi’s ability to adapt to different positions makes him a valuable asset to the team.
Speaking after the draw with Gold Stars, Ocloo highlighted Baafi’s utility player status, stating that he can be deployed in multiple positions.
“Our decision to use Baafi at right back is simple, he is a utility player and can be deployed to play in many positions,” he said.
As such, Baafi is expected to retain his right-back role when Hearts of Oak host Kotoku Royals at the Accra Sports Stadium in their upcoming fixture.
