Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has announced a significant investment of $100,000 in the development of juvenile football in the country.
Juvenile football, commonly referred to as colts in Ghana, has experienced a decline in recent years despite its historical contribution to nurturing talented players.
Since assuming the role of GFA boss, Okraku has prioritized the revitalization of juvenile football. As part of this commitment, $100,000 will be allocated specifically for the purchase of high-quality boots for colts players.
“We will invest $100,000 into to colts football. This money will serve as a means of buying football to our kids,” he said.
In addition to this investment, Okraku revealed that the GFA will receive $600,000 from KGL’s sponsorship of juvenile football. This financial support will further enhance the development of colts football across the country.
Furthermore, it has been mandated that Ghana Premier League clubs establish and own juvenile teams. This initiative aims to foster a seamless transition for players from the youth level to the senior teams. By registering players from their respective juvenile clubs, Premier League teams can facilitate the integration of young talents into their first teams.
The GFA’s commitment to investing in juvenile football and promoting the integration of young players into professional teams demonstrates their dedication to the long-term development of Ghanaian football. Through these initiatives, the GFA aims to revive and strengthen the colts system, ensuring the nurturing of future talents for the benefit of Ghanaian football as a whole.
