Felix Annan’s late substitution disrupted our game plan – Maxwell Konadu

2 min read

Asante Kotoko ccoach Maxwell Konadu has started that the 87th minute of captain of the side Felix Annan disrupted his game plan in their 1-1 draw against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

Kwame Opoku’s first-half goal for the Porcupine Warriors was equalised on time added by Emmanuel Clottey through a last-gasp goal.

Konadu also indicated that referee Daniel Laryea made a bad call which resulted in the last-gasp goal his side conceded against theBibiries.

Konadu was not happy with the decision to award Chelsea skipper Stephen Amankona a free-kick at the edge of the box.

Felix Annan got injured after colliding with Stephen Sarfo for an aerial ball and was stretched off in the 87th minute.

Konadu introduced second choice goalie on the day Kwame Baah and Konadu claims that affected his game plan.

”Of course we didn’t plan to change the goalkeeper. I mean it was another tactical change we had wanted to effect but all of a sudden, Felix [Annan] fell off and couldn’t continue so that really disrupted our game plan,” the former club captain told StarTimes.

”It was a very good and tough match. I said we came to win and that is what we wanted to do exactly. Had it not been because of a referee I respect so much. I have a lot of respect for the referee but then last minute I don’t know what came over him but that is football. We accept it and move on.”

Asante Kotoko have drawn their opening two matches in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, having played a 1-1 draw with Eleven Wonders last week.
