Business mogul Dr. Kwaku Oteng debunks reports linking him to Asante Kotoko board chairman role

Dr. Augustine Kwaku Oteng, the President and Founder of Angel Group of Companies, has dismissed rumors of his potential appointment as the next Executive Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko SC. Speculation had been rife after Dr. Oteng recently paid a visit to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life patron of the club, at his residence in the United Kingdom.

Reports in the local media suggested that there could be changes in the leadership of Asante Kotoko, with the possibility of dissolving the current board of directors and introducing new members. The current board, led by Executive Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei, is said to be preparing for their final meeting, during which they will finalize their reports and present them to Otumfuo Osei Tutu.

A photograph that surfaced online, showing Dr. Kwaku Oteng alongside Otumfuo, intensified speculation that he might be next in line for the prestigious position at Asante Kotoko.

However, in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM, Dr. Kwaku Oteng unequivocally stated his lack of interest in assuming the role of Executive Board Chairman at Asante Kotoko. He made it clear, saying, “I am not interested in being the next Asante Kotoko Executive Board Chairman.”

Asante Kotoko recently completed the 2022–23 betPawa Premier League season, finishing in fourth place with 52 points. While they fell short of capturing the league title and FA Cup, the club continues to strive for success and remains committed to its goals.

The focus now shifts to the future and the potential changes in the board’s composition, as Asante Kotoko looks to build a strong foundation for the seasons ahead.
