Asante Kotoko to travel to Dubai for pre-season tour

2 min read

Asante Kotoko are finalizing a tour to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates as part of their 2021/22 pre-season preparations.

New coach Prosper Narteh Ogum’s squad – who are in the second week of preparations for the upcoming campaign – are due to fly out to Dubai for a not-more-than a two-week training camp, sources indicate.

The Porcupine Warriors, per plans of the club’s management, would end their stay with a couple of friendlies with local clubs in the Asian country.

Our sources further indicate that the Kotoko management is looking to wrap up all transfer deals before time in order for coach Narteh Ogum to have the full complement of his registered squad for the tour.

So far Kotoko have acquired 8 new signings – Richmond Lamptey, Richard Boadu, Samuel Appiah, Clinton Opoku, Augustine Agyapong, Samuel Boateng, Isaac Oppong and Maxwell Kofi Agyemang – and are looking at a couple more before the transfer window shuts October 9.

A deal for Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala is all but finalized with the player expected to link up with the team in Dubai after the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with the national team.

Should the trip materialize, Kotoko intend to return home at least about a week to the commencement of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko are scheduled to kick-start their GPL campaign with an away fixture at Dreams FC on Sunday,  October 31.

And the Daily Echo understands Brooks will be part of the travelling party following his exploits with Wales this summer.
