Kotoko’s Albert Amoah joins Al Ahly Benghazi after Confederation Cup exit

Libyan Premier League side Al Ahly Benghazi have announced the signing of Ghanaian striker Albert Amoah from Asante Kotoko.
The confirmation came in a Facebook post moments after Kotoko’s crushing 5-1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the Caf Confederation Cup on Friday night in Morocco.
Amoah, 23, joined Kotoko from Accra Great Olympics ahead of the 2024/25 season on a three-year deal running through June 30, 2027. He scored twice against Nigeria’s Kwara United to help the Ghanaian side progress from the first preliminary round before they fell to the Moroccan champions on a 6-1 aggregate.
Kotoko later corroborated Al Ahly’s announcement with a statement on their social media platforms, confirming the permanent transfer.
“We can confirm the permanent transfer of forward Albert Amoah to Libyan side AL AHLY BENGHAZI,” the club said.
“Asante Kotoko is grateful to Albert for his services to the club and his achievements with us. We wish him the very best for the future.”
The move marks Amoah’s first venture abroad and comes as Al Ahly reinforce their attack for the new campaign, while Kotoko turn attention to regrouping after their early continental exit.
