Jordan Ayew has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars, noting that the team is fully aware of the high expectations back home as they head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana is in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, and the Black Stars captain is anticipating massive encounters in the group stage.
Speaking at a send-off event in Alexandria, Virginia, ahead of the team’s departure to Rhode Island, Ayew indicated that the players are highly motivated to make the country proud on the biggest stage of world football.
“We have three massive games ahead of us, and we want to make you proud; we want to make Ghana proud,” Ayew said.
“Obviously, it’s not going to be easy, but with your prayers and your support, hopefully, we’ll be successful.
“We want to thank everyone for your support, and we ask that you keep praying for us because we are here to make history,” he added.
The Black Stars concluded their training camp in Washington and have since arrived in Providence, Rhode Island, to finalize their preparations.
Ghana opens its World Cup campaign against Panama in Toronto on Wednesday, June 17, before taking on England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
