As the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws nearer, players of the Black Stars of Ghana are conditioning and positioning themselves well for the task ahead.

Though the fate of some players are yet to established due to injury concerns, some players are also showing signs of great return from their respective injuries.

One of such players is midfielder Francis Abu, who broke his leg in last year’s Kirin mini-tourney in Asia.

The Black Stars lost 0-2 to South Korea and lost again in their subsequent game against Japan. Unfortunately for Francis Abu, he suffered a severe leg injury which has ruled him out of competitive games for many months now.

The good news is that the Ghanaian international is back to the field doing light recovery training to keep fit.

The steady progress Francis Abu is making obviously excites most Ghanaians including the newly appointed Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz.

In addition to Abu, Olympic Lyonnais Ernest Nuamah and FC Freiburg’s Daniel Kofi Kyere have also fully recovered from their career threatening injuries.

Both players have started featuring for their respective clubs in Europe showing glimpses of good display.

What still remains doubtful is whether Tottenham Hotspur star boy Mohammed Kudus could regain total fitness for the FIFA Mundial.

Already, center back Mohammed Salisu who picked Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury a couple of months ago in France has been confirmed ineligible to play for the Black Stars in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
