2 min read

Former Ghana captain Andre Ayew has signed for Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda on a free transfer ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 36-year-old completed his deal with the Yellow and Black lads on Wednesday as he looks forward to earn call-up to Coach Otto Addo’s Black Stars for the upcoming Mundial in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

He is expected to be with the side for the second part of the 2025–26 season, and hope for a renewal if he performs to the satisfaction of the technical team.

The club’s official statement indicated:

“In the battle for survival in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie, NAC has added André Ayew (36), a new striker to its squad. The experienced French-Ghanaian striker has signed a contract until the end of the current season, with a club option for another season in Breda.”

Ayew has been without a club since the end of the 2024–25 season after leaving French outfit Le Havre. He has since been training with Nania FC to stay fit for the past months.

The 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner has had stints with Olympique de Marseille, Swansea City, and West Ham United. He has almost 600 official appearances in the Champions League, Ligue 1, Ligue 2, Premier League, Championship, and the Turkish Super Lig, scoring over 160 goals in those competitions.

He has featured 120 times for the senior national team of Ghana scoring 24 goals in the process.

NAC Breda currently lies at the bottom of the Dutch Eredivisie with 13 points.
