In preparation for the upcoming season, Hearts of Oak have officially introduced Dutch coach Martin Koopman as their new head coach.
Amidst ongoing media speculations, the club formally announced the seasoned coach’s appointment at the Pobiman Complex, coinciding with their resounding 11-1 victory over Miracle Land FC.
Koopman steps into the role previously held by Serbian coach Slavko Matic, who was the last substantive head coach for Hearts of Oak.
Following the departure of Samuel Boadu early in the previous season, the club turned to Matic. While Matic had a promising start, the team’s performance gradually declined, prompting frustrated reactions from fans and eventually leading to his mid-season exit.
The Phobians faced a challenging battle to avoid relegation on the season’s final day under interim coach David Ocloo, who has also departed to join rival club Asante Kotoko.
