Asante Kotoko striker, Steven Mukwala has emphasized that his primary objective heading into the season is to contribute to the club’s capture of the 2023/24 betPawa Ghana Premier League title and also annexing the top scorer’s award.
As stated by the Ugandan International, his aim is to aid the club in securing the domestic league championship and improve upon their performance from the previous season.
Kotoko concluded the recently concluded season in fourth place, falling short of claiming the coveted league title which was ultimately won by Medeama SC.
With coach Prosper Ogum Nartey at the helm of affairs following his return, Mukwala is confident that the coach’s expertise will benefit everyone, particularly himself, in accomplishing his goals for the upcoming season.
Mukwala also expressed his aspiration to become the leading goal scorer in the Ghana Premier League competition.
“That is my first priority this season, my main target is winning the league and still fight for the top scorer. With the character of the coach and love for the club this season we will go far. The season will be super amazing for all the porcupine fans and family,” he told Asante Kotoko TV.
When queried about setting a specific goal tally, he responded with a “no,” but quickly added that he aims to surpass his achievements from the 2022/23 campaign, during which he netted 11 goals.
“Basically, I won’t point out any figure but what I believe I will do better than I did last season I improve on myself and everything so to ensure that this season becomes a better for and Kotoko,” Mukwala added.
The Ugandan forward, who scored 11 goals for Kotoko in the previous season, emerged as the club’s top scorer.
Asante Kotoko will commence their title pursuit at the Baba Yara stadium, facing Hearts of Lion in September.
