In the wake of David Ocloo’s departure, Hearts of Oak is gearing up to appoint Tunisian strategist Nabil Maaloul as their latest head coach.
Sources reveal that the decision is rooted in the recommendation of the club’s technical director, Rene Hiddink.
Nabil Maaloul, celebrated for his role in guiding ES De Tunis to a treble victory in 2011, is anticipated to assume the role. The accomplished figure, who both played for and managed ES De Tunis, is expected to formalize a substantial long-term contract with the esteemed Ghanaian club, which boasts a record of MTN FA Cup victories. The management and board of Hearts of Oak view Maaloul as an ideal fit for their ongoing project.
With over 60 years of age, Nabil Maaloul has amassed considerable experience throughout his coaching journey on the African continent. Notably, he secured triumphs in the Tunisia League, Tunisia Cup, and the CAF Champions League in 2011 while at the helm of ES De Tunis. In addition to these achievements, Maaloul steered Kuwait SC to victory in the Kuwait premier league and Kuwait Emir Cup during the 2021/22 season. He also claimed victory in the Qatar Cup in 2014 with EL Jaish.
Nabil Maaloul is anticipated to arrive in Ghana by the end of the week to finalize contractual formalities. Subsequently, he will assume leadership of the team from Rene Hiddink, continuing their preseason preparations.
