Ex-Black Stars coaches CK Akonnor, Milovan Rajevac threaten court action against GFA over unpaid salary

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is facing the possibility of a legal battle as former Black Stars coaches CK Akonnor and Milovan Rajevac threaten to take the GFA to court if they are not paid their owed dues.

Both coaches are dissatisfied that they are still owed salary arrears, despite being sacked two years and one year ago, respectively, from their coaching positions with the national team.

Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has confirmed that CK Akonnor and Milovan Rajevac have written to the Ghana Football Association, expressing their intention to pursue legal action to ensure they receive their owed payments.

“We have appealed to them that we are committed to making sure we settle whatever we have agreed with them,” the Sports Minister stated.

However, it should be noted that the GFA has already paid each coach an amount of $100,000 as part of the negotiated exit agreements. Yet, the outstanding balances for both coaches amount to approximately $200,000.

The Minister explained, “All of C.K and Milovan, once their contracts were terminated, we sat with them, negotiated their exit, and C.K was paid $100,000 immediately after the negotiation, the same as Milovan.”

He further acknowledged that the remaining payments have been delayed due to financial constraints, but they intend to fulfill their commitments to the coaches as soon as they secure the necessary funds.

During a press briefing in Accra, Minister Mustapha Ussif made these revelations, shedding light on the ongoing payment dispute between the GFA and the former Black Stars coaches.
