MLS outfit Montreal Impact offer $2.5m to sign Black Meteors striker Emmanuel Yeboah

Promising young talent Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cluj may be on the verge of leaving the club this summer, as reports from Ghanaosccernet suggest that he has received an offer from a Major League Soccer (MLS) team.

Yeboah, a 20-year-old Ghanaian, initially joined CFR Cluj’s second team in March 2022. However, due to a shortage of strikers in the first team, he quickly made his way into the senior squad and made a significant impact.

Multiple MLS clubs have taken notice of Yeboah’s performances, with the Montreal Impact showing the most interest. They have put forward a concrete offer of €2.5 million for the young footballer and are willing to provide him with a salary of €700,000.

Yeboah’s impressive displays in the Africa Cup of Nations U23 tournament, where he scored three goals and contributed an assist in the group stage matches, have further raised his profile. Despite Ghana narrowly missing out on reaching the semi-finals, Yeboah’s talent has not gone unnoticed.

While several North American clubs are monitoring the Ghanaian striker, the Montreal Impact appear to be the frontrunners. CFR Cluj’s president, Neluțu Varga, is reportedly in agreement with the proposed transfer fee and is open to negotiations. Varga also intends to retain 20% of any potential future transfer involving Yeboah.

It is worth noting that Yeboah’s form dipped during the SuperLiga season following a failed transfer to Slavia Prague earlier this year. Although CFR Cluj and Slavia Prague had agreed on a transfer fee of nearly €2.5 million, the deal fell through due to contract terms and medical concerns raised by Slavia Prague.

As a result of the unsuccessful transfer, Yeboah experienced a decline in performance, failing to score a goal in 19 appearances across all competitions during the spring season.

Transfermarkt currently values Yeboah at €900,000. As negotiations progress, it remains to be seen whether the Montreal Impact will meet CFR Cluj’s demands and secure the services of this talented young striker.
