Asante Kotoko appoint Ohene Brenya, Richard Akoto to represent them at the 29th Ordinary Congress

1 min read

According to reports from Nhyira FM in Kumasi, Asante Kotoko has appointed Henry Ohene Brenya as team manager and Richard Akoto as IT manager to represent the club at the upcoming Ghana Football Association’s 29th Ordinary Congress.

Following the dissolution of the board and the departure of CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah, Manhyia, the seat of the Asante Kotoko owner, has communicated these appointments to the football governing body.

Ohene Brenya and Richard Akoto will now serve as representatives for the club, taking over from the outgoing CEO and Administrative Manager Emmanuel Dasoberi at the GFA’s 29th Ordinary Congress. The congress is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The dissolution of the board signifies a significant change in the club’s leadership structure and marks the end of Nana Yaw Amponsah’s tenure as CEO. The departure of the former 2019 Ghana Football Association presidential candidate suggests that internal dynamics and conflicts within the leadership may have played a role in his exit.

Asante Kotoko will now need to regroup and appoint new leaders who can guide the club forward and address the challenges that led to the dissolution of the board.
