“Kessben prevented my move to Real Madrid” – Ex-Ghana youth star Ransford Osei opens up

Ransford Osei, a former forward for Kessben and Asante Kotoko, recently shed light on the reasons behind his missed opportunities to join renowned club Real Madrid.
Osei’s talent shone through when he represented Ghana at the U-17 level in 2007, playing a pivotal role in the Black Starlets’ successful campaign that led them to a third-place finish in the 2007 U-17 African Youth Championship. He emerged as the recipient of the silver boot, having scored an impressive six goals throughout the tournament.
His exceptional performances continued in the 2009 U-20 World Cup, where he once again claimed the silver boot with seven goals. Ghana triumphed in the tournament, becoming the first African country to secure the prestigious title.
Recalling his experience, Osei explained the circumstances surrounding his failed move to Real Madrid. The owner of Kessben FC, Kwabena Kesse, turned down the offer from Real Madrid because he had received a more substantial offer from another agent.
“After the World Cup, I garnered interest from all the prominent clubs. I vividly remember receiving an offer from Real Madrid, both for myself and Daniel Opare. However, Kessben FC deemed the offer from Real Madrid insufficient due to another club’s proposal of one million dollars. As a result, Opare proceeded with the transfer,” Osei revealed during an interview with Kings Jersey TV.
Although Osei missed out on the opportunity to join Real Madrid, his talent and achievements attracted significant attention from top clubs, demonstrating his potential as a player.
At age 32, Osei finally called it quits at 30 in March 2021 after what many believe was a failed career blighted by injuries.
He played for clubs in Spain, Israel, South Africa, the Netherlands, Finland, and Lithuania.
