Nations FC secure Ghana Premier League promotion after beating WAFA

Nations FC produced a thrilling comeback victory against WAFA in a Division One League match-week 28 fixture, sealing their promotion to the top-flight Ghana Premier League.

In a highly anticipated clash at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese, Kumasi-based Nations FC secured a pulsating 3-2 home win over West African Football Academy SC, earning themselves a well-deserved spot in the Ghana Premier League for the upcoming season.

WAFA struck first, taking an early lead through Razak Simpson. However, Nations FC quickly responded when Abubakari Gariba converted a penalty in the 10th minute, completing his hat-trick heroics later in the match.

The visitors regained their advantage through former Ghana U17 star Emmanuel Agyemang Duah in the 58th minute, following their dominant display early in the second half. However, Nations FC showed resilience as Gariba once again equalized on the 68th minute.

In a dramatic finale, Gariba completed his hat-trick and sealed the victory for Nations FC with a decisive penalty in the 96th minute.

With their thrilling 3-2 triumph over WAFA, Nations FC emerged as winners of Division One League zone two, securing their promotion to the Ghana Premier League for the next season with two games remaining in the 2022/23 campaign.
