Inter Milan dominate city rivals AC Milan to reach UEFA Champions League final

Inter Milan secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final for the first time since 2010 after defeating AC Milan 1-0 in the second leg of their historic semi-final clash, completing a 3-0 aggregate victory. It was their fourth consecutive Derby della Madonnina win without conceding a goal.
Although the San Siro stadium was mostly filled with Inter shirts, Milan started the game stronger. Théo Hernandez came close with a daring strike, but Brahim Díaz lacked conviction to beat André Onana after a fantastic setup by Sandro Tonali. Inter weathered Milan’s attacks and started threatening on their own, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan missing the target from Edin Džeko’s pass.
In a competitive encounter, Rafael Leão nearly made a triumphant return from injury with a crucial goal, but his shot narrowly missed the target after breaking away from Matteo Darmian. Džeko’s header forced an incredible save from Mike Maignan, and Lautaro Martínez’s subsequent attempt went off target. Despite maintaining their two-goal lead, Inter suffered a setback as Mkhitaryan was forced off the field due to injury just before halftime.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t until the 56th minute that Clément Turpin issued the first yellow card of the match to Malick Thiaw for a cynical foul on Martínez as Inter emerged strongly after the break. With their resolute defense, Inter kept Milan at bay, allowing Martínez to fire a shot past Maignan’s outstretched hand, giving Inter the lead on the night and securing their victory over Milan.
Emotions ran high as Inter secured their place in the UCL final in Istanbul, extending their unbeaten streak to nine matches in all competitions. While Inter awaits to discover whether they will face Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final, Milan will hope to secure a spot in next season’s UCL by finishing in the top four of Serie A. Currently, they sit four points behind the fourth qualifying position.
