‘Unstoppable’ Joseph Paintsil nets 15th league goal of the season in Genk win over Club Brugge

On Sunday, Joseph Paintsil, a winger for the Black Stars, continued his impressive goalscoring form in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League when KRC Genk defeated defending champions Club Brugge.

Genk increased their lead on the league table to three points with a remarkable 3-1 comeback victory at the Cegeka Arena. Brugge took the lead in the ninth minute after Hans Vanaken connected with a pass from Andreas Skov Olsen. However, moments later, Daniel Munoz equalized for Genk with a powerful header after Gerardo Arteaga provided a cross.

In the early stages of the second half, USA defender Mark McKenzie put Genk in the lead for the first time after being assisted by Tresor Ndayishimiye.

Paintsil scored his 15th goal of the season, sealing Genk’s emphatic victory, after pouncing on a loose ball inside the penalty area. Although the 25-year-old had scored earlier in the game, his effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.

This season, Paintsil has been Genk’s best player in the Belgian top-tier, scoring 15 goals and assisting 12 times in 31 appearances.
