Chris Hughton reveals his biggest challenge as Black Stars coach

Chris Hughton, the former manager of Brighton and Hove Albion, has identified the biggest challenge he faces as the coach of the Ghanaian national team.
According to Hughton, who replaced Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars, the biggest challenge is meeting the expectations of Ghanaians, who consider getting results as a measure of success.
“Expectations are always the biggest challenge. I’ve been here long enough, and I remember the old World Cups and the Black Stars teams of the past, which raises expectations,” Hughton told SuperSport in an interview.
“But that’s true of any management or coaching position. It’s about achieving results, and there are now so many changes… Many teams have improved. In an AFCON qualifying group, there is never an easy one, which may not have been the case in the past. It’s about expectations and, of course, ensuring that you can achieve the results you need.”
Hughton recently led the Black Stars to four points in a double-header against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He is contracted to lead the team until December 2024.
