2 min read

Nkawie Experimental B Primary subdued academy-esque Afari Presby Primary 2-0 to emerge champions of the 2023 Nkawie Circuit Under-13 Boys Inter-School Soccer Championship on Friday, March 10, 2023.

Two second-half goals secured Exp. B the much-needed trophy following their impressive display throughout the competition held at Kyereyase in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal.

Nkawie Experimental B Primary did not win the trophy on a silver platter as they had to shrug off threats from previous winners like Nkawie Experimental A and Afari Presby School.

Nkawie Exp. B Primary, under the tutelage of Danso Sarpong and Dominic Ntiamoah, played through the whole competition without picking a single ball from their net, scoring an impressive 14 goals in the process.

They trounced Nyamebekyere 4-0 in their opening fixture before defeating last year’s winners Nkawie Experimental A 2-0, thanks to two stupendous freekicks by Raphael “Toni Kross” Owusu, who put up the Most Valuable Player performance.

Raphel Owusu was voted Overall Best Player

It was an avalanche of goals in the semi-final against neighbour, St. Justin, popularly known as “Kofi Nsiah.”

Nkawie Exp. B mauled St. Justin 6-0 to book a place in the final stage against old foes, Afari Presby.

Afari Presby Primary started on high, but soon Nkawie Exp. B held on tightly and halted all threats, dominating in the highly perceived difficult encounter.

After a barren first half, Maxwell Owusu Boateng opened the scoring early in the second half by beautifully scoring from close range.

Maxwell Owusu Boateng added the second with a well-delivered placement after outwitting his marker in the 18-yard box.

Coach Danso Sarpong’s charges controlled the game with their silky, smooth, and intriguing display, much to the admiration of the vociferous fans who thronged to the venue to witness the game of football.

Afari Presby tried to fight back but were not successful as Maxwell Owusu Boateng’s brace won the day for Nkawie Exp. B who lost 1-0 to the same opponent in the 2019 edition.

Host school Kyereyase M/A Primary secured the third place in the Boys soccer U-13 championship.
