Ghanaian legend, Karim Abdul Razak insists that the reason Ghanaian players haven’t won CAF honours in recent years is that they haven’t been competitive.

He claims that the current crop of Ghanaian players just care about the money they make, and because of that they are no longer known.

The Confederation African Football on Thursday released a 30-man list for the African Player of the Year award without a Ghanaian footballer.

The list includes new Bayern Munich signing Sadio Mane and former winner of the award Mohamed Salah.

Comoros star Youssouf M’Changama and AFCON golden boot winner Vincent Abubakar have all made the list.

Speaking to Angel FM in Accra, the 1978 African Best Player said;

“Now Ghanaian players only focus on money that’s why they don’t recognise by CAF Awards. Their moves and decisions are only about money and not being competitive to be at the top, ” he told Angel FM 102.9FM

Ghana had a terrible Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Cameroon early this year after exiting the tournament at the group stage.
