Sacked Ghana Premier League coach reveals why Hearts of Oak are struggling this season

Former Head Coach of Eleven Wonders and Medeama, Ignatius Osei-Fosu has explained why Hearts of Oak has struggled this season.

The Phobians have endured a torrid 2021/22 football season and are currently watching rivals Asante Kotoko run away with the Premier League title.

Hearts of Oak currently sit in 6th place on the league table with 29 points from 20 games, 15 points behind leaders Asante Kotoko and 8 points behind 2nd placed Aduana FC.

In an interview with Max TV, Ignatius Osei-Fosu who’s currently without a club after being axed by Medeama earlier this season revealed that the Phobians are struggling due to fatigue.

“Other teams had holidays Hearts of Oak didn’t have, it has nothing to do with technical or tactical. I guess they have to rotate their squad and have believe in the other players.

“When you look at their centre back pairing they started playing early last year and for almost a year they haven’t had a break. They were preparing for Africa when other teams were on break so their woes are down to tiredness because they have the quality. They concede a lot of late goals because when you’re tired your eyes become weary and lose concentration,” he added.

The Phobians will return to action on Sunday against AshantiGold at the Accra Sports Stadium and head Coach Samuel Boadu will hope to pick maximum points.
