Transfer News: Bechem United sign lanky Cameroonian striker Atemengue Awono Junior

Title chasing Ghanian Premier League side Bechem United have completed the signing of 26-year old Cameroonian forward Atemengue Awono Junior.

The former Apejes of Mfou and Neman Grodno prolific goal poacher with exceptional heading ability has been listed as part of the club’s January recruits having secured his services as a free agent following the expiration of his last contract commitment at Belarusian side Energetik-BGU Minsk.

Awono Junior joins ex- Kotoko forward Godfred Asiamah, Akosombo Nana Benyin Quayson, James Yeboah Papa Yaw and Emmanuel Owusu, Desire Owusu complete the list of new arrivals.

The club’s has revealed the reasons behind the mass recruit with this statement on their official handle.

“This has been necessitated as management and the technical team seek to put the appropriate modules in place in the quest to achieve set goals for the season.”

With 30 points accumulated from 18 games this season in the Ghana Premier League, Bechem United are 10 points off leaders Asante Kotoko of Cameroon duo Mfegue Georges and league top scorer Mbella Etouga.

Etouga’s 13 goals this season has contributed to his side’s 40 points tally in the league.

Awono who also played for Moroccan sides Mouloudia and CA Khenifra in the past becomes the third Cameroonian in the Ghanaian Premier League this season.
