2020/21 MTN FA Cup: Berekum Chelsea secure the last slot for the quarterfinal stage

Berekum Chelsea became the last team to progress to the quarterfinals of the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup after a penalty shootout win over Kintampo FC on Thursday.

The Bibires scored first in the away fixture through Stephen Amankona in the 17th minute. But the lead could last just 10 minutes as Mohammed Nurudeen Osman drew Kintampo level. It stayed 1-1 till the full-time whistle.

The game went into penalties with Berekum Chelsea winning 5-3.

The Round of 16 of this edition of the MTN FA Cup has seen a couple of big-name exits including Great Olympics, Aduana FC and Legon Cities.

The teams still in the running include six from the Premier League and two from Division Two – Attream de Visser Academy and Kintampo Top Talent.

The Premier League teams are Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC, Elmina Sharks, AshantiGold and Berekum Chelsea.

The MTN FA Cup Committee is expected to meet on Friday to decide on the draw date and format for the remainder of the competition.

Quarterfinal matches are scheduled to be honoured between July 20 and 22.
