INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: Ghana 0-0 Ivory Coast – The Elephants Hold The Black Stars To A 0-0 Stalemate

The Black Stars were held to a 0-0 stalemate by the elephants of La Cote d’Ivore in a friendly encounter at the Cape Coast stadium this evening.

Ghana’s Senior National team, the Black Stars were held to a goalless draw game by Ivory Coast this evening at Cape Coast in the ongoing international friendly.

The two teams looked very poised for action as each team prepares a formidable side towards the forthcoming world cup qualifies later this year.

The game went underway as the time clocked 17:00 GMT.

On the 10th minute, Kudus effected a free kick which was very close to goal until attacker Sabastien Haller stretched to block the ball to corner kick.

Ivory Coast’s Wilfred Singo missed a one-on-one chance with Goalkeeper Frank Ati Zigi after the attacker played a quick pass with teammate Sabastien Haller unfortunately, the striker’s effort missed the post by inches on the 16th minute.

The Black Stars came on the 28 minute through Thomas Partey who went searching for a goal after the midfielder kicked a straight free kick unfortunately, the ball went far over the goalpost.

On the 41st minute, Kudus Mohammed went attacking as the midfielder in a pool of struggle with his opponents, fought to locate Partey, who fired a thunderbolt halfway in Ivory Coast half however, Goalkeeper Ati Zigi punched Partey’s effort and subsequently held onto the ball

On the stroke of the half time, the elephants came close, possessing, attacking and crossing the ball looking for striker however, Daniel Amartey with a good timely intervention headed the ball to corner on the 45th minute. Resultant corner was wasted.

The two teams kept compact, stability, composure and discipline till the ball went to the break.

In the second half, as the two teams were holding onto each other, the elephants in an attacking advantage were rewarded with a free kick. 

Sergio Aurier set up the the free kick which looked dangerous as the ball was approaching Ghana’s goalpost until Amartey headed the ball away on the 65th minute.

Frank Kessie, a minute up, latched onto a pass half way from Ghana’s half, where he [Kessie] fired, but ball deflected, and subsequently landed on top of the net. Resultant corner went wasteful.

On the 79th minute, the Ivorians penetrated the Ghanaians defense, located teammate Ahmad Dialo who happened to be in a one-on-one challenge with Goalkeeper Ati Zigi. Ahmed went passing unfortunately, ball was cleared by the Ghanaians defense.

Thomas Partey took the random ball after Dialo’s challenge, located Jordan Ayew, who ran with the ball on the flanks however, Jordan’s final kick was blocked by his marker. Resultant corner didn’t yield any results.

On the stroke of the full time, Ibrahim Kangara fired a free kick which looked dangerous as the ball approaches the post, but Goalkeeper Ati Zigi made a spectacular save to corner kick on the 91st minute. Resultant corner didn’t yield any results.

Subsequently, the game came to an end with Ivory Coast holding Ghana to a goalless draw game away from home in Cape Coast, Ghana.

Ghana couldn’t win any of their two friendlies after loosing 1-0 to the Atlas Lions of Morocco elsewhere in Rabat, as well as drawing 0-0 to the Elephants of La Côte d’Ivoire this evening.
