Match Report: Asante Kotoko miss chance to reclaim top spot after WAFA stalemate

Despite dropping Razak Abalora for Felix Annan, Coach Mariano Barreto could only manage a draw against WAFA in their 1-1 home draw. It was their Ghana Premier League match day 26 fixture played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Ismail Ganiu scored in the first minute to commence their fight for the top spot as early as the first minute. It was a penalty converted by the Central defender to keep the matchday 26 rolling.
The much tactical clash highlighted skills from the Academy Boys despite being hit with a lone goal. Coach Prosper Nertey maintained his approach to poise threat to the homers.

Habib Mohammed and Ismail Ganiu were always on guide to defend their goal post, however, difficult WAFA lads wouldn’t stop attacking from both flanks.
Justus Torsutsey brought WAFA on level pegging in the stoppage time of the first half after his side made series of incursions. The well-deserving header beat Goalkeeper Felix Annan.
It was the former Sekondi Hasaacas FC forward fourth goal of the season since joining WAFA in the second transfer window.
The balance game began with high tension in the second half.
Both teams affected changes for the winning goal, with Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Latif Anabila enhancing Asante Kotoko SC attacking front but still could not stand the defence line of the visitors.
WAFA curtailed Andy Kumi and Imoro Ibrahim from making dangerous passes that can lead to a goal. It was a stunner to see the centre referee whistle to end throttling with Asante Kotoko SC sharing spoils with the Sogakope based outfit.
The draw leaves Asante Kotoko SC second on the league table with 46 points.
Hearts of Oak leads the table with goal difference since they have the same number of accumulated points.
