2024 Elections: Ex-Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah to contest as Member of Parliament
1 min readStephen ‘Tornado’ Appiah, the former captain of the Ghanaian national team, has made a firm decision to run as an independent candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Having led the Black Stars to their historic World Cup debut in 2006, Appiah faces a challenging contest against incumbent Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the NPP and John Dumelo of the NDC.
Despite the constituency’s strong ties to the two dominant parties, Appiah’s team is optimistic about his chances, banking on his enduring popularity and influence from his illustrious football career.
