We Would Have Died A Stupid Death If We Had Died in That Kotoko Accident – Ashitey Ollenu
2 min readFormer Asante Kotoko player Ashitey Ollenu has taken a swipe at the club for the blatant neglect of the plight of the victims of their three year old unfortunate accident.
The Porcupine Warriors were involved in a gory accident on July 12, 2017 when the team was returning to Kumasi after a 1-0 defeat in a Ghana Premier League clash against Inter Allies.

The sad incident occurred around Nkawkaw when Kotoko’s bus run into a truck at the middle of the road.
The horrible accident claimed the life of the team’s Deputy Equipment Officer Thomas Obeng Asare. Other officials and a couple of players sustained injuries.
However, none of them have benefited from any insurance package.
The players, coach at thar time – Steven Pollack – and other team officials have lambasted the management at that time for failing to Compensate them.
Speaking to Kumasi based Akoma 87.9 FM, the speedster who suffered a btoken teeth in the process intimated, “We would have died a stupid death if we had died in that accident, Ghanaians players should learn from it, when you get the opportunity to travel outside, don’t take it for granted.
Ashitey Ollenu, together with other players were deemed surplus to requirement after the incident.
“I am disappointed because it has affected my career. The sad aspect is that Kotoko transferred us from the club after the accident.

“We have not received a penny from Kotoko,” he reiterated.
Some of the aggrieved players and officials have expressed their displeasure to the Prof. Nkansah led Committee which was installed by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to investigate the affairs of Kotoko.
