Head coach of WAFA SC, Dr. Prosper Narteh-Ogum has elaborated on the reasons why Asamoah Gyan failed to convert the 2010 World Cup quarter final penalty against Uruguay 10 years after the country was sent into a state of sorrow.

According to the experienced gaffer, Gyan missed the opportunity because of a movement error.

Coach Prosper Narteh-Ogum

“The Gyan penalty scenario was a case of Stage Anxiety vs Stage Confidence, he didn’t suffer Stage anxiety [which includes talking to one’s self on the implications of missing the kick] It wasn’t about fear or confidence, we all know Gyan is confident” Prosper Narteh told Skyy Power FM in Takoradi.

I” have analyzed Asamoah Gyan’s kick over and over again, his movement, and kicking had problems, which led to the ball moving over the bar, it was not about confidence, as we all know Gyan has confidence”

“Gyan failed to convert the penalty because of movement error, kicking technique error and body alignment error”.
