Kessben FM’s SIR JOE LAKA Honoured At 7th Global Leadership Service To Humanity Awards
1 min readThe United Nations has awarded renowned sports journalist, Kwabena Gyamfi, affectionately known as Sir Joe Laka the Global Presidential Award of the Decade for his service to humanity for the year 2020 as the Face of Sports in Africa.
The 7th Global Leadership Service To Humanity Awards was held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Friday, 28th August 2020.
It was held to honour some distinguished personalities in various categories with the Order of the Star Awards
The successful recipients of the prestigious awards were from politics, traditional leaders, business, financial institutions, religion, education, energy, mining, health, media, SPORTS, entertainment and other sectors.
Sir Laka was awarded in the Sports category as the Face of Sports in Africa. He has won quite a few awards in his lifetime including winning the RTP best Sports show hosts on three consecutive times.
The Global Legacy summit is organised in honour of the late UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. It recognises media achievements on nation-building, excellence, global score for inter-country governance and sustainable leadership.
The Iran Ambassador in Ghana chaired the function which saw the Army Band in attendance. The Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Efe Amanor, D Black and Michael Owusu Addo aka Sarkodie were among the award winners.
