Sportscaster Richmond Opoku Afriyie ‘PKAY’ leaving FOX FM

2 min read

Hardworking sportscaster Opoku Afriyie Richmond, popularly known as P’Kay is set to bid good bye to Fox FM after loyally serving the station for close to a decade.

The hard-to-beat journalist who is popular for his unprecedented knowledge and coverage of the local league is likely to join Nhyira FM or Light FM who have been chasing him for some time now.

The departure of Bright Kankam Boadu and his team from Multimedia to ABN branch Pure FM, seem to be giving Nhyira FM an upper hand over Light FM, and the Multimedia branch are set to break the bank to secure the signature of the stupendous journalist.

We understand that several media outlets in Kumasi have been on the heels of Opoku Afriyie for his signature but Multimedia are currently leading the pack with Light FM also doubling up to gazump the deal.

P’Kay who is believed to be an admirer of Kotoko Board Chairman and owner of Light FM, Dr. Kwame Kyei is however in a huge dilemma as to where his next destination will be after hinting he could depart Fox FM soon.

Opoku who is always hailed for his objectivity hinted on Tuesday that he could bid farewell to Fox FM after a post he made on Facebook went viral.

“They want me to bring down the curtain after 8 years of loyal service and I will gladly grant them their wish. End of the road,” he wrote on Facebook.

Opoku’s post seems to suggest he’s unhappy at his current station and is likely to join the exodus train to bid goodbye to Fox FM and their affiliates after 8 years of loyal undiluted service.

Checks revealed that the highly admired journalist has, previously on two occasions, returned packages he received from Angel and Silver FM to stay put with Fox FM consolidating his loyalty for the station.

But with the current media landscape impregnated with juicy offers and Opoku appearing unhappy with his employers, Multimedia or Light FM could thank their stars as he could turn their employee in the coming days.
