SAD NEWS: Legon Cities goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey DEAD
1 min readSylvester Sackey, the goalkeeper for Legon Cities FC, has sadly passed away after a brief illness.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper tragically lost his life on Tuesday, and this news has been confirmed by an official from the club.
Sackey had a notable season last year, making 19 appearances in the Ghana Premier League for Cities.
During that time, he made several remarkable saves and achieved the feat of keeping seven clean sheets, although he conceded 20 goals over the course of the season.
The Royals confirmed the sad news with the statement below:
“It is with a heavy heart that we sadly announce the passing of our goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey.
“Sackey has been with us the last four seasons and was our first choice goalkeeper for a greater part of the last two seasons.
“His demise is a big blow to everyone associated with the club.
“Our hearts and thoughts are with the bereaved family at this very difficult time.
“The club is in touch with the family of Sylvester and would communicate our next course of action in the coming days.”
