Kwame Kyei

Dr. Kwame Kyei was born on 2nd February,1961 in Accra.He hails from Agona wiamoase in the Ashanti region,but grew up in the capital city of Ghana, Accra. He is married to Mrs Favour Kyei and blessed with six children.

Dr. Kyei who is now known as a Kumasi-based business mogul began his business empire at Taifa in Accra in 1995.Before this time,he had worked for BOST for three years as a transporter in the haulage of Petroleum product.From a humble beginning at Taifa by establishing his retail outlet and becoming a leader in Goil, his business steadily expanded and in 2002 he was granted an Oil Marketing License by the National Petroleum Authority leading to the establishment of Unity Oil Company Ltd.

Dr Kyei is the CEO of a number of business including Unity Oil Company Limited, Light FM, Light TV,Vision1 FM, Sports Hotel and the Sport Recreational Centre and many other subsidiaries. Unity Oil the biggest of his businesses, which started at Taifa in Accra has several branches nationwide. Some of these are found at Ofankor (the head office), Ahwiankwanta, Agona Jamasi, Sunyani, Bantama, Asokwa, Afrancho, Asenua, Boankra, Santasi and Atonsu. Others are located at Tanoso, Ahodwo and Takoradi. The business mogul employs over 4000 people. He was awarded the Best Petroleum and Gas Entrepreneur of the Year at the Entrepreneur Award in 2013, and again received an honorary Doctor of services and Development degree from International Ministerial Council of Europe –an affiliate of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.In 2013 at a well-attended programme at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region dubbed ‘Ghana Thank You’ awards Dr Kyei was honoured alongside other well-meaning personalities including Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General.

Dr. Kwame Kyei is a Christian who fellowship with the Presbyterian Church. He is a humanitarian, who support the poor and the needy in the society, especially students who can’t afford school and tuition fees. Dr Kyei has been at the forefront of promoting peace through organising peaceful all-night vigils since 2004 to serve as vanguard for the peace initiative across the country. Rev. Dr. Divine Gabriel Brefo, president of the Peristrofi Masters in Theology School in 2010 described Dr. Kyei as a businessman with a high sense of integrity, objectivity, self- motivation and commitment to serve God. The 55-year-old Kumasi-based businessman has love for sports, having played gutter-to-gutter football in his childhood days and also takes part in keep fit activities and he is also a known Kotoko supporter, who visits the stadium to watch matches of the team from time to time.

Mr Jude Arthur, Vice Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko

Jude Arthur graduated from the University of Ghana Business School with a B.Sc. Administration, Accounting major (second class upper) in 1976. He is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Banking Ghana. His working career has been mainly in the Banking Industry. He had had extensive executive education in Leadership, Finance, Governance, Strategy and Organizational Effectiveness over his thirty-year Working Career.

His banking career commenced in Merchant Bank Ghana Limited in 1978 as a Project Officer and a Relationship Manager. He had a well-structured career path which took  him through key areas of Banking notably Credit Evaluation, International Trade Finance, Branch Operations, Risk Management, Treasury And Corporate Finance. His commitment and holistic approach to challenges enhanced his career progression. He held key positions as a Relationship Manager, Project Officer and Branch Manager and in 1987 was appointed the Senior Manager and Head of the Corporate Finance Division and a Director of Merban Investment Holding Limited a subsidiary of the Bank. He held these positions reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Bank until 1994 when he left Merchant Bank Limited.

In June 1994, he joined a group of Investors with a shared vision to set up First Atlantic Merchant Bank Limited (FAMBL) now First Atlantic Bank and was appointed the first Managing Director of the Bank. The pioneering role, which he played, and his responsibility for putting together the feasibility report and business plan of the bank for the banking licence was a unique learning opportunity for him and it certainly provided him with key insights into the Business of Banking. He was Managing Director from 1994 to 2012 when he left the bank honorably after eighteen years services at the highest level – as Managing Director.

He has extension executive training in banking and has a clear understanding of the risks and growth factors in banking as well as in Strategic Planning and Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Organizational Effectiveness. His executive education took him through such prestigious and well renowned institution as Insead-France, Wharton Business School- University of Pennsylvania, Templetion College, Oxford University, Stanford University, National University of Singapore (Nus), Ashridge Institute of Management, Euromoney Training School and the International Centre for Monetary and Banking Studies in Geneva. In addition to these, he had the benefit of attachment to Grindlays Bank India and Ans in London. At the governance level, he had exposure in making corporate boards effective and the evaluation of risk and compliance at a programme run by Harvard Business School.

His formal Education, Leadership Programmes and Seminars and his working experience at the highest levels have provided him with skills and competencies to develop and executes strategy and lead at the top not only in Banking but across industry sector. He  has a deep knowledge of the Banking System, the wider Capital Markets and an appreciation of Compliance at all levels in organisations.

  • He has had the opportunity to serve as a member of the study group whose recommendation formed the basis for the setting up of the Ghana Stock Exchange
  • He was the joint Lead Manager of the Ghana Portion of the Ashanti Goldfields share offer, which resulted in the listing of the then AGC on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
  • As Chairman of the National Communication Authority, we initiated the formulation of the first Long Term Mobile Licences which reflected Best Industry Practice and met Global Telecom Standards.

Mr Kwasi Osei Ofori

An experienced businessman, with over 30 years’ extensive practical involvement in the construction, mining and equipment rental business both in West Africa and Europe. He has developed a very strong world-wide network of heavy equipment suppliers, operators, financiers and a wide range of mining professionals. He has also developed considerable negotiating skills with which the Corporate interest gas been promoted in Governmental, NGO, community and other stakeholder circles. These contacts have provided deep insights and driven his vision and overall leadership role in the Company.

He is very well known for his relationship with the US Exim Bank having had the opportunity to collaborate with them for the organization of seminars in Ghana, Senegal and Cote D’ivoire and successfully executing over 25 transactions ranging in size from $500,000 to $39 million. Mr Genfi is the Chairman of Premier Capital Investment Brokers Ltd, Oxygen Dynamics Co, Ltd and Sereboso Co, Ltd. He also serves on the board of GAG Gas Company Ltd, Nurom Hotels Ltd, Stringfellows Ltd and Sameurope GmbH a German Firm.

Alhaji Abu Lamin – Businessman

Alhaji Abu Lamin is a fromer btoard member of the club. He is a businessman based in Tema. At a point in time, he was tipped to become the next Chairman of the club.

Mr Joseph Yaw Adu

Mr Joseph Yaw Adu is a retired Director of Sports at the Kwame Nkrumah Unity of Science and Technology.

Evelyn Nsiah Asare

Ms. Evelyn Nsiah Asare obtained her Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ from St. Joseph College of Education, the then St. Joseph Training College (JOSCO). She obtained a Bachelor of Education in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (HPERS) degree from the University of Education Winneba (UEW) and an MBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). She held various positions prior to her Lecturing Job. She was the Zonal Physical Education Organizer and District Sports Treasurer in for the Tano District. She was the Vice Chair Person for Brong Ahafo Women Football Association. She was the Assistant coach for the Ghana Under-14 Ladies National team. She also served as a Branch Manageress for Anointed Electricals Services Limited, Kumasi from where she was recruited by Sunyani Technical University the then Sunyani Polytechnic to join the academic staff as a Lecturer. Due to her passion for sports she also doubles as the Acting Sports Manageress for the University. She has five (5) scientific publications in procurement and supply chain management to her name. Her research interest includes but not limited to, sustainable procurement, public procurement, supply chain management and logistics and transportation management. Her interest in journalism cannot be over emphasized, she was a radio presenter and analyst at Fox FM (Kumasi), Assistant Head of Sports at Space FM (Sunyani) and Radio Sports Presenter and Analyst at Kapital Radio (Kumasi).
