Mensah, who is the leader of the Ghana Rugby Association, was appointed to lead the Porcupine Warriors in 1999, when the team was in a sorry state.

In an interview with TV3 Sports, Herbert Mensah advised administrators from meddling themselves with on the pitch issues.
“Our job (as club administrators) is not to win matches. Our job is to manage football clubs and therefore as chairman of Asante Kotoko, my job was to win off the field.
“If you win off the field as a sports or football administrator, the winnings on the field will come” he noted.
Herbert Mensah also advised club administrators to not be short-term minded but focused on long-term projects which would put the clubs in a better position in terms of governance.
