Former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has been named on the New Patriotic Party’s Flagbearer for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s, Manifesto Committee.

Gyan, Ghana’s all-time top scorer, has agreed to serve as the lead adviser for “Youth and Sports” for the Vice Presidents Presidential bid.

Gyan will join twenty-three other politicians to undertake what the NPP says is “a holistic review of the party’s 2016 and 2020 manifestos and engaging all relevant stakeholders to come up with a pragmatic 2024 manifesto.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Gyan shared a cryptic message on his X (formerly Twitter) page that has now been given meaning by tonight’s appointment.

“I believe the time has come for Legends in sports to come together and use their influence, network and resources in attracting investors into our country and make a meaningful impact on our youth in the sports fraternity I.e football, boxing and other athletics. I strongly…”

Gyan is now expected to take an active part in communicating the sports aspect of Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto when complete.
