Lawyer Baffour G.B Ashia – who is the lawyer of former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has expressed worry about how the special aide of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Kofi Asare Brako described soft-spoken gaffer as ‘ungrateful’.
According to the legal practitioner, the former Ghana international has sacrificed more than any person who has coached the senior national team.
Asare Brako indicated in an interview that, Appiah, who had two separate spells with Ghana ungrateful for deciding to report the Ghana Football Association to FIFA for unpaid salaries. He noted that the Association has been lenient to Kwesi Appiah when he failed to meet his target of lifting the Afcon trophy last year, for which he must show gratitude.
“Kwasi Appiah is ungrateful to report GFA to FIFA. He should know that when you report GFA you have reported Ghana to FIFA,” Asare Brako told Nhyira FM.
“FIFA will inquire about the contract document between the two parties and will make a judgement base on your achievement in the contract.
“He failed to perform his four mandates tasked to him in the contract but was not fired.
He added, “He should have even thanked the GFA and the Sports Ministry for that.”
“What Kwesi Appiah is doing makes him ungrateful to Ghana. He should show gratitude to GFA and MoYS.”
But Kwesi Appiah’s legal head, Lawyer Baffour feels saying Appiah is ungrateful is too harsh a word to use because his client’s track record depicts that he has sacrificed much for Ghana than any other coach.
“Saying Kwesi Appiah is ungrateful is a very harsh word. If we’re to talk about anybody who has sacrificed for Ghana, then it’s Kwesi Appiah,” Lawyer Baffour Ashia told Kumasi-based Hello FM.
“His track record shows the sacrifices he has made for the nation. It is harsh to say he is ungrateful.
“If somebody has sacrificed for the country, it’s Kwesi Appiah.”
The Black Stars were eliminated at the Round of 16 by Tunisia on penalties at the 2019 Afcon under the tutelage of coach Kwesi Appiah.
