Bofoakwa Tano started the tie on high as they controlled the pace of the game in the first quarter of the game.
They got the deserving lead for their hard work, as they scored in the 14th minute. RTU warmed themselves into the game, making some great incursions but lacking calmness upfront.
Elijah Addai caused a lot of problems for the Pride of the North as they struggled to handle him in the middle, creating a lot of spaces for the home side, but the attackers lacked precision.
RTU came close to equalizing through a dead ball situation, but the well-taken freekick saw an equally good save by goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobbi, who pushed the ball to cross the throw line.
With three minutes to end the first half, Emmanuel Kobbi again forced a decent save to deny Hilary’s powerful header from Kushibo’s corner kick.
After recess, RTU continued where they left off in the dying embers of the first half. A minute into the half, Mankuyeli made his way through the defenders of Bofoakwa, but the goal post rescued the home team.
RTU finally pulled parity in the 62nd minute of the tie.
Kushibo sent in a cross, and Mohammed Hardi fired into the back of the net.
Bofoakwa scored the needed goal to seal their first victory for the first time in 16 years after returning to the top flight through a spot kick by Stephen Owusu.
