Match Report: Ampem Darkoaa Ladies thrash Sam Nelly FC to book WAFU B Women’s Champions League final spot
2 min readAmpem Darkoa Ladies, the Ghanaian champions, have secured a place in the final of the ongoing WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
They achieved this by defeating their Beninese counterparts, Sam Nelly FC, with an impressive score of 6-1 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Monday evening.
From the outset, the ‘Nanamma’ team applied intense pressure on their opponents, resulting in an early goal just one minute into the match, courtesy of Tracey Twum.
Ophelia Amponsah came close to doubling the lead on the 10th minute, but her close-range tap-in narrowly missed the target.
Within minutes of that missed opportunity, Tracey Twum scored again with a brave header, securing her second goal of the match.
In the 18th minute, the Ghanaian champions found the back of the net once more, this time with Mary Amponsah connecting a Nancy Amoh free kick to notch her eighth goal in the competition.
Just before half-time, Ophelia Amponsah scored another header, extending Ampem Darkoa’s lead to four goals.
After the break, Sam Nelly managed to pull one goal back nine minutes into the second half.
On the 63rd minute, the Blue and Whites reestablished their four-goal lead with a stunning long-range goal from Nancy Amoh. Three minutes later, Tracey Twum completed her hat-trick, sealing the final score at 6-1.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies have advanced to the final and will face the Nigerian side Delta Queens. They must secure victory at all costs to earn a place in the third edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
