Kotoko supporters are ‘customers’ and should not have a rep on the board – Ben Nti

Former Asante Kotoko Administrative Manager, Ben Nti has hailed the decision that saw the club’s supporters rep as well as Asante Kotoko Old Players Association rep missed out on the new board of the club.
His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II announced a nine-member board of directors in late May but representatives of the two bodies missed out on the board despite being named on it in previous ones.

Many have expressed disappointment since the announcement although reports indicate they could be added to increase the number to 11.
Ben Nti – who worked under the Dr. K.K Sarpong administration from 2010 to 2013 – believes it is right to kick out the supporters rep from the board since the practice is not professional.
“Kotoko is a corporate entity. The supporters are customers of the club and should not be on the board of the club,” he told Ashh FM.
“We need to grow and desist from the old practice of naming supporters on the board. They can be part without necessarily being on the board.

“Look at the AKOPA – theirs is even technical. A former director of sports at KNUST and I know he will provide any ideas that could have come from them. Do they want to tell us that, the AKOPA members have much knowledge than him? This man can even teach them.
“We don’t joke with corporate governance. In selecting members onto a board, you need somebody with financial, technical , human resource and legal background.
“Those days where selections were done anyhow should be a thing of the past. AKOPA and supporters could be placed on maybe sub-committee that, they will form.
