Asante Kotoko defender, Abdul Ganiu has revealed his interest aside football, noting that he would have liked to teach English Language if he had failed in his football career.

According to the versatile defender he likes imparting the knowledge God has given him to kids and other people.

The centre-back and defensive midfielder pursued Business course at the Islamic Senior High School in Wa and excelled in his final examination including English language which, he says, was his favourite subject.

“Football has always been my dream,” says Ganiu. “I knew from the start that I was always going to be a footballer. As a kid, you need to have a dream and work hard to achieve it,” he told Kotoko Express App.

“But I would have gone into teaching; maybe, attend training college and become a trained teacher. I love kids. I always want to be around kids, impact knowledge in them, watch them grow and be a source of motivation to them.”

“English was my favourite subject in school,” Ganiu continues. “I was not bad in school. I would have been a teacher; maybe an English teacher, if I had not taken up football.”

Ganiu further reveals that he will love to do a course in education if given the opportunity.

“Yes, I definitely would like to get the required papers and see if I probably would take up teaching someday when I am out of the game.”
