I want to return and play active football again, says 42-year-old Richard Kingson
1 min readFormer Ghana international goalkeeper, Richard Kingson has shockingly revealed that he is hoping to return to active football after officially hanging his boots.
Kingson, 42, who currently coaches Emmanuel FC -a third-tier side in Ghana – retired from active football four years ago after an impressive career.

Speaking to Joy Sports the former Galatasaray and Birmingham City shot-stopper disclosed that, his three-year old son is eager to see him play football actively hence his decision to open up to offers.
“I have stopped playing but I can come back and play again because I want my son to see me playing,” he told Joy FM.
“For the national team, I will say no but even if it is one or two games for the club and for the national team [I want him to see me play],” he added.
Kingson kept the posts for the Black Stars at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups staged in Germany and South Africa respectively.
He was recently appointed as the goalkeepers trainer of the Ghana Black Stars but was relieved of his position after the contract expired late year. He was at the 2019 Afcon held in Egypt.
He made 90 appearances with a a career spanning from 1995 to 2016.
