I don’t think am competing with anyone at Hearts – Richmond Ayi
1 min readHearts of Oak goalkeeper Richmond Ayi has dismissed suggestions that he is in competition with Richard Attah.
Ayi became the Phobians number one choice when he joined the Accra-based club in 2018 from WAFA. But he lost the spot upon the arrival of Richard Attah from Elmina Sharks prior to the commencemen of the 2019-20 Ghana Premier League season.
He has been second choice since match-day 3 of the suspended football season.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Wontumi Radio, Ayi said he is hoping for his time to come.
“I don’t think am competing with anyone at Hearts of Oak, although I’ve been on the bench since the arrival of Atta, he was playing week in week out before the league was halted but that is not a problem,” Ayi said on Wontumi Radio.
“I’m just hoping that I will be selected someday and surely I will deliver too because if he plays and we win it’s a success to the team and I will be regarded too.”
Attah’s impressive run with the Phobians earned him a call-up into the Black Stars for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double-header qualifiers against Sudan which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
