Ghana FA General Secretary insists GHALCA deserve a portion of FIFA COVID-19 Relief Fund
2 min readThe Ghana Football Generals Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo has justified why the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) was allocated the $2000 from the Fifa COVID-19 relief fund.
The allocation of the FIFA Covid-19 relief fund to GHALCA has been heavily criticised by most of the club administrators and members.
They believe that the welfare body of the clubs does not deserve the amount and should be shared among the clubs.
But according to Prosper Harrison, GHALCA is among the wider community and should benefit from the stimulus package.
“If an amount of money is allocated to GHALCA from the relief package it’s in the right order. GHALCA is not new in the football fraternity”, he told Hello FM.
“GHALCA has been deeply involved in our engagements for relief package for the clubs. All the proposals we prepared GHALCA submitted their inputs. It is a welfare body of the clubs and they earn portion of monies from the respective clubs to the Ghana FA. This is because Ghalca is their welfare body”.
”Every group seems not satisfied with their amount including GHALCA who had $2000 but we decided to help every stakeholder with at least something.
“The amount is to help their administration. They always provide us with information when the need arises or when we are making proposals”, he added.
The Ghana FA is set to hold a meeting with the elite clubs over the disbursement of the FIFA Covid-19 relief fund on Wednesday 22 July.
