Former Asante Kotoko defender Maxwell Agyemang joins Karela United

Former Asante Kotoko center-back Maxwell Agyemang has completed a transfer to Karela United during the ongoing transfer window.

Maxwell Agyemang initially joined Asante Kotoko at the start of the 2021/22 season, arriving from Division One side Wamanfo Mighty Royals. He was the second signing for the team under the management of Prosper Ogum, a move that eventually contributed to their success at the end of the season.

However, Agyemang has faced challenges with injuries and playing time during his time at Kotoko. Despite his promising performance in the Division One League, he struggled to replicate those numbers with the Porcupine Warriors, featuring in only 22 games over two seasons, compared to 26 appearances and three goals for Wamanfo Mighty Royals.

Karela United has identified Agyemang as a valuable talent who can bolster their defense in the upcoming season. After a successful medical assessment, Agyemang has signed a two-year deal with Karela United.

Karela United is eager to bounce back in the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, which commences on September 1. Despite finishing fourth two seasons ago, they slipped to eighth place in the previous season’s standings. Their campaign will kick off with an away match against Legon Cities.
